Man arrested following complaint of threats

A 39-year-old man from Dawson Settlement, N.B., was arrested following a complaint of uttering threats in the community.

On June 19, 2020, at approximately 10:45 a.m., members of the Riverview RCMP received a report of a man at a residence on Dawson Road uttering threats towards others residing in the same home. As police were en-route, information was received that the suspect had gone into a garage beside the house with a firearm and was refusing to come out.

A short time later, a man was taken into custody without incident and the residents of the home were able to leave safely. No one was injured. Another individual was arrested and later released. Two firearms were seized.

The 39-year-old man was released on several conditions and is scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on July 6, 2020, to face charges related to this incident.

The investigation is continuing.
