We have had our challenges over the past few months and generally everyone is adhering to the recommendations of our Chief Health Officer and Premier to do our part in recovering from the pandemic threat. It's been hard for many to adjust and it's been tough changing our traditional ways sometimes, but we all know it's for the greater good. We are doing so well.

That's why, this weekend, RCMP are asking that what is traditionally a "welcome to summer" weekend - the May long weekend - that you think through your actions and make the right choices. Our requests remain the same, pre COVID and now in the midst of our new normal. Don't drive impaired. Don't drive distracted. Slow down. Have fun, but follow the rules that keeps us all safe.

To ensure that the rules are followed, RCMP will be in communities across the Island, conducting enforcement on roads and on the water in an effort to ensure safety.

As we wrap up National Police Week, Road Safety Week and come into the May long weekend, we wish the best for everyone. There will be lots of people out and about, children enjoying some outdoor time - take care to drive slowly and keep an eye out to avoid pedestrians and bicycles if you are driving vehicles this weekend.

Thank you for helping police agencies across Prince Edward Island keep our roads and communities safe.
