Leduc RCMP arrest four individuals, recover stolen property

On March 10, 2020 at approximately 9:20 a.m., a Leduc RCMP officer was on patrol in an unmarked vehicle when they observed a newer model black Dodge Ram scoping out vehicles in hotel parking lots on Sparrow Drive.

Queries of the vehicle licence plate showed it had been reported stolen out of Edmonton. The officer requested backup and followed the vehicle from a distance. While following, the officer observed the female passenger exit the vehicle, enter a delivery truck and steal personal items belonging to the truck driver.

Leduc RCMP Crime Reduction Unit with the assistance of the Central Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit followed the vehicle until it parked and arrested the four occupants without incident.

Further investigation determined the truck was stolen out of British Columbia two weeks prior.

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of the following:

  • 22 calibre rifle
  • Ammunition
  • Drug paraphernalia
  • Numerous stolen identification cards and mail
  • Break and enter tools
  • Personal items stolen from delivery truck

A 34-year-old male of no fixed address has been charged with 11 offences, including the following:

  • Fraudulent concealment
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 x 4
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

He was remanded into custody after a Judicial Interim Release hearing and is scheduled to appear in Leduc provincial court on March 26, 2020.

A 26-year-old male of Richmond, B.C. has been charged with six offences, including the following:

  • Fraudulent concealment
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

He was released following a Judicial Interim Release hearing on Release Orders and is scheduled to appear in court in Leduc on March 26, 2020.

A 35-year-old male of Edmonton has been charged with 13 offences, including the following:

  • Fraudulent concealment
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 x 2
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

He was remanded into custody after a Judicial Interim Release hearing and is scheduled to appear in Leduc provincial court on March 26, 2020.

A 31-year-old female of Fort McMurray has been charged with 11 offences, including the following:

  • Fraudulent concealment
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Obstruction of a peace officer

She was remanded into custody after a Judicial Interim Release hearing and is scheduled to appear in Leduc provincial court on March 19, 2020.
