Leduc RCMP are currently on scene of a fatal traffic collision on Hwy 60 - Update

On Feb. 9, 2020 at approximately 4:20 p.m., Leduc RCMP responded to a fatal traffic collision on Highway 60 south of Devon involving a truck and semi-tractor.

Preliminary investigation revealed the truck was northbound on Highway 60 when a collision occurred with the semi-tractor heading southbound. Both vehicles ended up in the southbound ditch as a result of the collision.

The lone 18-year-old female occupant of the truck from Thorsby was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the semi-tractor was not injured

Highway 60 was closed for several hours while Leduc RCMP and an RCMP Collision Analyst investigated. Traffic is no longer being diverted in the area. Road conditions at the time of the collision were reported as icy.

The name of the deceased will not be released and no charges are anticipated.

The Leduc RCMP are currently at the scene of a fatal traffic collision at the intersection of Hwy 60 and Hwy 19. It is recommended that travel be avoided on Hwy 60 between Hwy 19 and Hwy 39 for the next few hours as the collision is investigated. The road conditions at the scene are icy.
