Leaf Rapids RCMP find male disobeying Public Health Order

News release

On September 26, 2020, at approximately 11:30 pm, RCMP were patrolling in the community when they came across a male on Keyask Bay, in Leaf Rapids. The male was questioned by officers and admitted he was visiting from Winnipeg and was in town to attend a wedding. He was advised of the restrictions in place by Manitoba Public Health (travel north of the 53rd parallel not permitted), and was asked for identification. The male provided several false names to officers, however further investigation led officers to identify the male, who was found to be wanted on several warrants. He was subsequently arrested.

Kyle Baker, 21, was wanted on four warrants out of Winnipeg for Assault with a Weapon, Assault, Failing to Comply x8 and Uttering Threats x2.

He was also charged with Obstruction, Fail to Comply x2 and was fined $486.00 under the Public Health Emergency Order, for Failing to comply.

He was remanded into custody.

Investigation ongoing.
