Lac du Bonnet RCMP search for lost hunter

On November 9, 2020, at approximately 4:30 pm, Lac du Bonnet RCMP received a call from a lost hunter. The 65-year-old male, from Lac du Bonnet, called police advising that he was out hunting and had gotten lost. He explained that he had parked his vehicle off of PR 214, by some gravel pits, but now could not find his vehicle. He was currently on foot near a swamp, did not have any food or water, and was unsure how long his cellphone battery would last.

RCMP officers located the male's vehicle, on Snoman trail 760, south of PR 214, and began searching the area.

A number of resources were deployed to assist with the search including; RCMP Police Dog Services, Search and Rescue, Office of the Fire Commissioner, Lac du Bonnet Fire Department and Whitemouth Fire Department.

The search continued into the early morning hours, and at approximately 3:00 am, Search and Rescue located the male in a swampy area. He was in good health and was able to walk out with searchers. He did not require medical attention.
