June 25, 2020
RM of Cartier, Manitoba

News release

On June 24, 2020, at 11:55 pm, officers from Headingley and Stonewall RCMP received a report of a firearm having been discharged on a property located on Ferry Road in the RM of Cartier. The caller advised that he believed the home owner was having a party, with a small group of individuals, when three shots were fired and that shotgun pellets had fallen onto his deck. No injuries were reported.

Officers immediately attended to the residence and spoke to the home owner, who denied having discharged a firearm. Officers then located three spent casings on the ground. A 29-year-old male was placed under arrest for Careless Use of a Firearm and upon searching the male, officers located another live round in his possession. A 31-year-old female was also arrested on scene.

Both accused were taken back to the Stonewall Detachment and later released on conditions for court scheduled in Winnipeg on September 2, 2020.

RCMP continue to investigate.
