Two women were caught in possession of cocaine while parked in a car at the Salvation Army Church in Carbonear.

On February 23, 2020, at approximately 6:30 a.m., Harbour Grace RCMP received a report of a suspicious vehicle parked at the church. Police attended, observed the parked vehicle with the engine running and found two women inside. The driver, a 27-year-old originally from Victoria, was suspected to be impaired by a drug and was arrested by police.

Officers located cocaine within the vehicle. The 37-year-old passenger of Carbonear was also taken into custody and both occupants now face a charge of possession of cocaine.

The driver completed a drug recognition evaluation and police are waiting for the results of the testing to determine if she will be charged with drug-impaired driving.

The two women were released from custody and are scheduled to attend court in April, 2020.
