Fifty-year-old Frederick Osmond of Sheshatshiu was arrested twice within the past week following traffic stops where he was found in possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine.
March 9, 2020, Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP conducted a checkpoint on Route 520 and found Osmond driving with a suspended licence. Upon seizing the vehicle, police located a quantity of cocaine and over $4700 cash. He was charged for possession for the purpose of trafficking and was released by the court on conditions.
March 15, RCMP Labrador Traffic Services located Osmond operating another vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Osmond fled from the vehicle on foot and was apprehended a short time later by police. He was found in possession of a quantity of cocaine and was taken into custody. He faces charges of resisting arrest, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, failing to comply with a release order, and driving while suspended. Osmond will attend court today.
Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP seized three vehicles from Osmond this month and have laid a number of charges under the Highway Traffic Act for a variety of offences. Osmond owes more than $12,000 in outstanding fines.
