Glovertown RCMP seized a dirt bike for stunting along Main Street in Sandringham yesterday afternoon.

RCMP officers patrolled the Eastport Peninsula in an unmarked police car after receiving a number of complaints involving all-terrain vehicles and dirt bikes operating dangerously on the roadways.

At approximately 3:20 p.m., police observed a dirt bike driving on Main Street in Sandringham. The dirt bike was travelling on the road with traffic, speeding at times, passing motorists on the right-hand side and operating on one wheel (doing wheelies).

The dirt bike pulled into a gas station and the officers conducted a traffic stop. The operator, a 16-year-old youth from the area, was ticketed for stunting under the Highway Traffic Act and the dirt bike was seized and impounded.

RCMP NL continues to fulfill its mandate to protect public safety, enforce the law and ensure the delivery of priority policing services in Newfoundland and Labrador.
