Fort Saskatchewan RCMP Traffic/Crime Reduction Unit seize drugs and weapons during traffic stop

Seized Contraband

On Sept. 12, 2020, While conducting patrols on 99 Avenue and 101 Street, members of the Fort Saskatchewan Traffic/Crime Reduction Unit conducted a vehicle stop.

RCMP members identified the vehicle occupants, and determined the driver to be prohibited from driving Canada wide and wanted on outstanding warrants for his arrest. The female passenger was found to be wanted on outstanding warrants for her arrest. The female and male passenger were also found to be breaching release order conditions in relation to unrelated matters.

As a result of the investigation, the vehicle occupants were taken into custody.

A search incidental to arrest was completed and the following items were seized:

One pound of marijuana, 4 grams of Methamphetamine, 28ml of Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate (GHB), bear spray, brass knuckles, digital scale, packaging, stolen credit cards, knives and Canadian currency, suspected of being proceeds of crime.

As a result of the investigation,

A 26-year-old male of Edmonton, was charged with the following offences, including:

  • Operation while Prohibited x2
  • Resists/Obstructs Peace Officer
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Unauthorized Possession of a firearm, Prohibited Weapon or Restricted Weapon
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Possession of Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order x4

An 18-year-old female of Edmonton, was charged with the following offences, including:

  • Possession of Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Unauthorized use of Credit Card Data
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order

A 48-year-old male of Edmonton, was charged with the following offences, including:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance x2
  • Possession of Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order

The 26-year-old male was remanded into custody following a Judicial Hearing and is set to appear in Fort Saskatchewan provincial court on Sept. 24, 2020. The 48-year-old male was remanded into custody following a Judicial Hearing and is set to appear in Fort Saskatchewan provincial court on Sept. 17, 2020. The18-year-old female was released from custody on conditions following a Judicial Hearing and is set to appear in Fort Saskatchewan provincial court on Oct. 22, 2020
