Fort Saskatchewan RCMP Traffic/Crime Reduction Unit seize drugs and stun baton during vehicle stop

On Feb 9, 2020 The Fort Saskatchewan Traffic/Crime Reduction Unit conducted a vehicle stop on Highway 21 and 84 Street after positively identifying the vehicle passenger, who is known to police and wanted on outstanding warrants.

Both of the vehicle occupants were arrested without incident and a search incidental to arrest was completed.

Police seized several items which were located in possession of the vehicle occupants and the inside of the vehicle including: 66.6 grams of cocaine, 23.5 grams of Methamphetamine, 27 oxycodone tablets, 7.5 xanax tablets, 898 ml of gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB), 106.9 gams of marijuana (the estimated street value of the drugs is $11,000.00) digital scales, packaging, $3200.00 cash, suspected as being proceeds of crime, a collapsible baton and a 5-million-volt stun baton flashlight.

A 27-year-old male of Redwater was charged with 9 offences which include:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking x5
  • Possession of cannabis for the purpose of distribution
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose x 2

A 31-year-old male of Fort Saskatchewan was charged with 9 offences which include:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking x5
  • Possession of cannabis for the purpose of distribution
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose x 2

Both males were released on conditions by a Justice of the Peace and are set to appear in Fort Saskatchewan provincial court on February 13, 2020.
