Fatal collision on Highway 102

At 8:51 a.m. on February 10, a two-vehicle collision occurred on Hwy. 102 in Shubenacadie. The initial investigation indicated a southbound SUV lost control, crossed the median, and collided with a northbound dump truck. The driver of the SUV died at the scene, while the driver of the dump truck was not injured. The RCMP and the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service are continuing to work to identify the deceased woman.

Highway 102 was closed to northbound traffic between Exits 9 and 10 from the time of the collision until 6:30 p.m. that evening. Traffic was diverted through Hwy. 2. One southbound lane was also closed for several hours while an RCMP Collision Analyst was on scene. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision is ongoing.
