March 17, 2020
Coldbrook, Kings County, Nova Scotia

News release

At 10:15 a.m. on March 17, a collision occurred between a westbound pickup truck on Hwy. 101 and a small car that was entering the highway at Exit 14. Preliminary investigation determined the small car, occupied by a man and a woman, did a u-turn once it entered the highway and was struck by the westbound pickup truck.

The driver of the small car, an 81-year-old man from Annapolis County, died at the scene. The 78-year-old female passenger sustained serious injuries and was transported from the scene via LifeFlight for medical treatment. The sole occupant of the pickup truck sustained minor injuries and was transported to hospital by EHS for medical treatment. An RCMP Collision Analyst was called to the scene, resulting in the closure of Highway 101 between Exits 14 and 15 for several hours. The investigation is ongoing.

Our thoughts are with the family of the victims at this difficult time.
