Excessive speeding results in charges by RCMP, driver re-examination by Province

On June 22nd at approximately 9:20 p.m., in the area of Bloomfield on Route 2, the West Prince RCMP were conducting pro-active patrols when they encountered at vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle was registered travelling at 157 km/hour in a 90 km/hour zone.

The driver of the vehicle was charged under the Highway Traffic Act for Speeding 60 km/hour or more over the posted limit.

The vehicle was seized and the driver's license is being sent for re-examination. Excessive speeding can result in the driver being reassessed for suitability of the responsibilities of driving. Please drive within the limits and if you observe erratic driving, notify police.
