Elk Point RCMP - stolen vehicles recovered after search warrant executed

On April 14, 2020 Elk Point RCMP with assistance from the Eastern Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit, RCMP Police Dog Services and RCMP Air Services located and arrested a male that was wanted in connection to a flight from police offence and theft of motor vehicles.

stolen car that had fled previously from police was located and proceeded to flee again. RCMP Air Services were able to track the car to a residence in Frog Lake.

Two suspects then fled on foot into the residence where they surrendered to police a short time later without incident.

search warrant was obtained for the residence, and police recovered a stolen ATV, car and truck. The items had previously been reported stolen from Ardmore, Bonnyville and the Frog Lake area.

An 18-year-old male of Lloydminster, Alta., and a 19-year-old male of Cold Lake, Alta., were jointly charged with the following offences:

  • Flight from a police officer
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

The 18-year-old male who was wanted at the time of his arrest was also charged with operation while prohibited and failing to comply with release order. He was remanded into custody and will be appearing in St. Paul provincial court on April 23, 2020 via CCTV

The 19-year-old male was released after a judicial hearing and is set to appear in St. Paul provincial court on July 2, 2020.
