Driver charged following serious injury collision

At 7:40 p.m. on June 19, Colchester County District RCMP responded to a report of a collision involving a motorcycle and a car on Hwy. 289 in Brookfield. The motorcycle was going eastbound when a car traveling west bound veered across the yellow line colliding with the motorcycle.

The 17-year-old woman driving the motorcycle was transported to the hospital via LifeFLight with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the car, a 24-year-old man from Brookfield, was arrested for Dangerous Operation Causing Bodily Harm and later released. He is scheduled to appear in Truro Provincial Court on September 9.

Hwy. 287 was closed for several hours, while RCMP officers, with the assistance of an RCMP Collision Analyst, were on scene. The highway has since been re-opened. The investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing.
