Driver charged with impaired driving after collision

Tuesday, June 23rd, at 2:39 a.m., Kings District RCMP, Island EMS and Souris Volunteer Fire responded to a call of a car which had crashed into a ditch in on Route #2 in Fortune Bridge.

A nearby resident who was awoken from the sound of the crash called 911. Shortly thereafter, a 21 year-old man from the Souris area was located walking away from the scene showing signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired driving.

His vehicle was demolished but luckily he did not sustain any injuries.

After being assessed by Paramedics he was transported to the Souris RCMP Detachment where he provided samples of his breath one and a half times the legal limit. He was released from custody after being served a 90 day driving prohibition and is scheduled to appear in Georgetown Provincial Court at a later date.
