Crime Reduction Unit round-up: June 10 to June 16th, 2020

On June 11th, 2020, the Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) executed a search warrant at a residence on Cook Street in Whitehorse. CRU had investigated the residence with the assistance of Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods (SCAN).

At approximately 8:30 p.m. officers entered the residence. The following was seized:

  • an amount of suspected crack cocaine;
  • cell phones;
  • drug paraphernalia;
  • nunchakus;
  • bear spray;
  • a large sum of cash.

Keith Bilau, 51, Lisa Smith, 50, Muawiyah Hariff, 21 and Abdifetah Mohamed, 22, are charged with Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon. Bilau and Smith were released by way of an Undertaking to appear in Whitehorse Territorial Court on August 19th, 2020.

Hariff and Mohamed were held to be released by the courts.
