News release

Correction - A previous version of this news release stated the search warrant was executed on June 2 and the court date was on June 1. This was incorrect and the dates have been corrected. We apologize for this error.

A 53-year-old man from Grande-Digue, N.B., is facing four charges following the execution of a search warrant at a residence in Grande-Digue, N.B.

On May 30, 2020, at approximately 2:45 p.m., the Shediac RCMP received a report of threats made while New Brunswick Department of Public Safety officers were conducting a check at a home in Grande-Digue. An individual in the home was required to self-isolate due to recent travel outside of the province.

As part of the on-going investigation into the allegation of threats, a search warrant was executed at a home on Martial Hébert Road on June 1. Three long guns were seized along with ammunition. A man was arrested in a vehicle a few kilometres from the scene.

On June 2, Ronald Paul Joseph Breau was brought before a judge by way of a tele-remand and was charged with one count of uttering threats and was remanded into custody.

On June 4, Breau appeared again in court by way of a tele-remand for a bail hearing. He was charged with assaulting a peace officer, unsafe storage of a firearm and not complying with an order of self-isolating for 14 days under the Emergency Measures Act.

He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on June 8, 2020.

The investigation is continuing.
