On June 11, 2020, while investigating unrelated matter, Gjoa Haven RCMP learned of information related to allegations of person in possession of child pornography. The investigators promptly turned to investigate these allegations.
Police subsequently executed a search warrant at a residence where electronics were seized in support of the allegations. A 30-year-old Gjoa Haven man was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography – Section 163.1(4) CC. He appeared before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody. His next scheduled court appearance is on July 14, 2020 at the Nunavut Court of Justice in Iqaluit, NU.
