Cartwright RCMP arrests impaired driver following tip from public

A 39-year-old woman of Cartwright was arrested today by Cartwright RCMP following a tip from the public of a suspected impaired driver.

Just after midnight, police received the report and officers patrolled the area and located the described SUV. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, who was found to be impaired by alcohol, was driving while suspended. Officers located open alcohol inside the vehicle. The woman was arrested for impaired driving and was transported to the detachment where she provided breath samples that were more than three times the legal limit.

The driver was released from custody and is set to attend court at a later date to answer to charges of impaired driving. She was ticketed for having open alcohol in the vehicle and for driving while suspended. A further suspension of her driver's licence was issued.
