Illegal drugs seized by Burin Peninsula RCMP in June have tested positive for fentanyl and a morphine derivative, both of which can cause death or serious injury.

Police have concerns that drugs laced with fentanyl and morphine continue to circulate in the community and urge residents not to consume any illegal drug because of the unknown and dangerous ingredients they may contain.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are expected. Further details will be provided as the investigation progresses and charges are laid.
