Forty-eight-year-old Burin Peninsula resident Christopher Brenton has been charged with attempted murder and multiple other offences following an investigation by Burin Peninsula RCMP into shots fired into a Garnish home on Friday, August 7, 2020.
Police officers responded to the scene at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Brenton was arrested later that evening and remains in custody. He made an initial court appearance on Saturday, August 8, and will appear in court again this afternoon in Grand Bank. He has been charged with Attempted Murder, two counts of Uttering Threats, Possession of a Firearm without a License, Knowingly Possessing a Firearm without a License, Possession of a Firearm in a Vehicle, Unsafe Use of a Firearm, Pointing a Firearm and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose. The investigation is continuing, with further charges expected.
Detachment police officers, General Investigative Services, Police Dog Services, the Emergency Response Team, Traffic Services East, and the Underwater Recovery Team collaborated on the investigation.
