Burin Peninsula RCMP investigates break, enter and theft at Newco Metals

A large metal shipping container at Newco Metal & Auto Recycling Ltd in Marystown was cut open and a number of items were stolen on November 12, 2020.

Burin Peninsula RCMP is investigating a report of break, enter and theft that happened at Newco Metal & Auto Recycling Ltd on Route 210 in Marystown on November 12, 2020.

Shortly after 8:30 a.m. police received the report and attended the scene. Officers learned that the incident occurred sometime between the hours of 3:00 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. that same day. The culprit(s) cut a hole into the side of a large metal shipping container and stole a number of items, including copper wire, car batteries and catalytic converters. The total value of the stolen items is approximately $8000.00.

The investigation is continuing.
