Burin Peninsula District RCMP follows up on tip and arrests impaired driver in Marystown

A 63-year-old Marystown woman was arrested on October 19, 2020, by Burin Peninsula RCMP for impaired driving following a report of a suspected impaired driver.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. police received the tip of a suspected impaired driver who was leaving a business in Marystown. An officer on patrol near the area responded, located a vehicle matching the description provided and conducted a traffic stop. The driver failed a roadside breath test and was transported to the detachment where she provided further breath samples that were more than one and a half times the legal limit.

The woman now faces charges of impaired driving, was issued a driver's licence suspension and her car was seized and impounded. She was released from custody and is scheduled to attend court at a later date.
