Breton RCMP on scene at serious collision – Update to fatality, highway re-opened

Emergency personnel have cleared, and all lanes of Highway 22 have re-opened to traffic.

A 60-year-old male passenger of the SUV involved in this collision was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the SUV was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver and passenger of the pick-up truck involved were not injured.

Breton RCMP, along with an RCMP Collision Analyst, continue to investigate.

The name of the deceased will not be released.

Breton RCMP on scene at serious collision

The RCMP have responded to a two vehicle collision on Highway 22 and Secondary Highway 616. The collision was reported at 2:20 p.m.

Traffic is being diverted and is slow going in the area. Highway 22 is open to one lane of travel for both northbound and southbound traffic only. Motorists are recommended to avoid the area.

An RCMP collision analyst is en route to conduct a scene examination, and it is anticipated that it will be several hours before the highway is cleared.
