Boyle RCMP arrest four after break and enter/theft reported

On May 6, 2020 at approximately 9 a.m., Boyle RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter in progress at a rural residence northwest of Boyle.

A victim approached the suspects when one of them brandished what was believed to be a firearm and bear spray. The suspects then fled the area in a truck with a trailer that was stolen from the property. The truck and trailer were later abandoned and the suspects fled on foot near Range Road 204.

Boyle RCMP with assistance from Athabasca RCMP, RCMP Emergency Response Team, RCMP Air Services and Police Dog Services secured the area.

Four suspects were later located and arrested in the area without incident. A pellet gun and can of bear spray was seized by police.

A 36-year-old male of Athabasca, Alta., was charged with:

  • Break and enter with intent
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Obstruct a peace officer
  • Possession of a weapon obtained by crime
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

He was remanded into custody and is set to appear in Edmonton provincial court on May 8, 2020.

A 30-year-old male of Athabasca, Alta., was charged with:

  • Break and enter with intent
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Obstruct a peace officer
  • Mischief to property under $5000
  • Possession of break in instruments

He was released and is set to appear in Boyle provincial court on July 28, 2020.

A 32-year-old female and a 37-year-old female both of Athabasca, Alta., were charged with break and enter with intent, possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, obstruct peace officer. Both were released and are set to appear in Boyle provincial court on July 28, 2020.
