Following two separate traffic stops in Stephenville Crossing yesterday, Bay St. George RCMP issued traffic tickets to one driver for driving without valid registration or insurance and arrested another driver for driving his snowmobile while prohibited. Both vehicles were impounded.
On March 23, 2020, at approximately 2:20 p.m., Bay St. George RCMP conducted a traffic stop on Main Street, Stephenville Crossing. The driver, a 34-year-old Stephenville Crossing woman, was found to be driving without valid registration or insurance. She was issued tickets for each offence.
Later the same day, at approximately 3:45 p.m., Bay St. George RCMP responded to a report that a man was suspected to be driving a snowmobile in Stephenville Crossing with a suspended licence. Police located the driver, a 77-year-old Stephenville Crossing man, and conducted a traffic stop and determined he was prohibited from driving. He was arrested and released to appear in court at a later date to face criminal charges of prohibited driving.
