Bay St. George RCMP arrested a man for impaired driving on Saturday after he left the scene of a collision and issued a number of tickets to a man on Sunday following a traffic stop in the community of West Bay.
At approximately 12:10 p.m. on June 20, 2020, Bay St. George RCMP received a report of a motor vehicle collision on Main Road in Piccadilly involving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV). The driver, a 37-year-old Mainland man, left the scene on foot before police arrival but was located by officers after a search of the area. The man had minor injuries and was suspected to be impaired. He was arrested for impaired driving, brought to Stephenville hospital for medical attention and once cleared from the hospital, he was transported to the detachment. He provided breath samples that were more than twice the legal limit. The driver was released to appear in court at a later date to face charges of impaired driving. The ATV was seized and impounded.
At approximately 2:40 p.m. on June 21, 2020, Bay St. George RCMP was on patrol on the Main Road in West Bay and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, a 59-year-old Lourdes man, was driving without registration and without insurance. He was issued tickets for those offences and the vehicle was seized and impounded.
