Three all-terrain vehicles were seized and impounded by Bay Roberts RCMP for operating on a roadway in Spaniard's Bay on August 2, 2020.

Three all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) were seized by Bay Roberts RCMP on August 2, 2020, for operating on the road in Spaniard's Bay.

On Sunday afternoon, an officer from Bay Roberts detachment was parked in Spaniard's Bay in an unmarked police vehicle conducting traffic enforcement. Three ATVs drove down the main road amongst traffic and passed by the unmarked car. The officer pulled out onto the road and followed the ATVs as they pulled into a local gas station. The officer spoke to the three operators, who were all 16-17 years in age and from the Trinity Conception area. Police contacted the parents of the youth to attend the scene and the ATVs were seized and impounded.

The investigation is ongoing and charges under the Motorized Snow Vehicles and All-Terrain Vehicles Act are pending.

RCMP NL reminds off-road vehicle operators that it is illegal to operate an ATV on a roadway.
