Bay Roberts RCMP responds to a motor vehicle collision, both drivers face charges

A woman was taken into custody last night for impaired driving following a motor vehicle collision in South River and a man was issued a ticket for no insurance.

At approximately 9:20 p.m. on July 28, 2020, Bay Roberts RCMP responded to the report of a two-vehicle collision. Police attended and found that the driver of one vehicle was impaired by alcohol and the other driver was operating a vehicle without insurance.

A 19-year-old Makinsons man was ticketed for operating a vehicle without insurance and a 34-year-old Carbonear woman was arrested for impaired driving after she failed a roadside breath test. The woman was transported to the detachment and provided breath samples that were over the legal limit. She was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date. Both vehicles were seized and impounded by police.
