Bay Roberts RCMP arrests impaired driver in South River

A 33-year-old Roaches Line man is facing impaired driving charges following a traffic stop conducted by Bay Roberts RCMP on June 20, 2020.

At approximately 3:45 a.m., Bay Roberts RCMP stopped a pickup truck on Route 70 in the community of South River and suspected the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The man failed roadside breath testing and was arrested for impaired driving. He was transported to Bay Roberts Detachment where he provided breath samples that were more than the legal limit.

The driver, who was issued a driver's licence suspension, was released from custody and is set to attend court at a later date to answer to charges of impaired driving. The truck was seized and impounded.
