Barrington man charged with aggravated assault and related offences

On July 18 at approximately 9:30 p.m., one man was assaulted by another man at a home in Clyde River. The victim was struck in the head with a piece of lumber, then physically assaulted. The suspect is known to the victim. Following the assault, the suspect left the residence. The victim called for help, and was taken to hospital for treatment of serious but non life-threatening injuries. When the suspect left the home, he forcibly took another person from the home.

Barrington RCMP located and arrested the accused on the evening of July 19. Twenty-seven-year-old Dustin Crowell of Barrington is charged with Aggravated Assault, Assault with a Weapon, Assault, Kidnapping, and three counts of Fail to Comply with a Release Order. Crowell was held in custody pending a court appearance on July 20 where he was remanded. He is scheduled to return to Yarmouth Provicial Court on July 23.

The investigation is ongoing.
