A former coordinator of the Advocate Youth Services Cooperative youth centre in Baie Verte, Amy Ivany, is facing five charges as a result of an investigation into financial irregularities. The investigation found that approximately $90,000 in funds was missing from the cooperative.
The offenses are alleged to have occurred between February, 2018, and January, 2019.
The youth center was forced to close for a period of time due to financial hardship.
Forty-year-old Ivany has been charged with fraud over $5,000, theft over $5,000, forgery, uttering a forged document and possession of stolen property. She is scheduled to appear in court on March 3, 2020.
