On Aug. 19, 2020, Alberta RCMP Major Crime's investigation into the suspicious death of 15-year-old Roderica Ribbonleg of Little Red River Cree Nation, Alta., has resulted in an arrest and charge.

Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit arrested Jason Alec Tallcree (35) of John D'Or Prairie, Alta., in Jon D'Or Prairie and he is charged with First Degree Murder.

Following a judicial hearing, he was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in High Level Provincial Court on Aug. 24, 2020.

No further information is available at this time.

Alberta RCMP Major Crimes continue to investigate this homicide and are asking the public's assistance for any information in relation to the death of Roderica Ribbonleg.

Fort Vermilion, Alta. – On July 15, 2020, an autopsy was completed at the Edmonton Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, which confirmed the identity of the human remains as those of missing 15-year-old Roderica Ribbonleg of Little Red River Cree Nation, Alta.

Alberta RCMP Major Crimes' investigation into this suspicious death continues.

The Fort Vermilion RCMP would like to thank the Little Red River Cree Nation, inclusive of the areas of Jon D'Or Prairie, Garden River and Fox Lake, for their efforts in searching for Roderica as they were instrumental in locating her. The RCMP would also like to acknowledge their assistance in the initial stages in this investigation and the communities' patience during lock downs that provided invaluable assistance so that the RCMP could conduct their investigation into this suspicious death.

Fort Vermilion RCMP investigate missing youth

John D'Or Prairie Little Red River Cree Nations, Alta. – Fort Vermilion RCMP is asking for the public's assistance in locating a missing 15-year-old female.

Roderica Ribbonleg was last seen on July 5, 2020 while in the John D'Or Prairie area. Roderica is described as:

· 5'2" or 157 cm tall

· 119 lbs or 54 kg

· Shoulder length black hair

· Brown eyes

· Braces on her teeth

· Last seen in a dark brown hoody and sweat pants

The Fort Vermilion RCMP is requesting the public's assistance in locating Roderica.
