Airdrie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit seize significant amount of drugs on traffic stop

On Feb. 14, 2020 at approximately 12:45 a.m., members of the Airdrie Crime Reduction Unit conducted a traffic stop on Highway 2 north of Airdrie in Rocky View County, Alta. During the course of the traffic stop, officers entered into a drug investigation and arrested two occupants of the vehicle for possession of a controlled substance. A search of the vehicle incidental to arrest lead to the seizure of 81.5 grams of cocaine, 34.7 grams of methamphetamine, 7.8 grams of Fentanyl, 55 tabs of LSD "Acid," and approximately 220 other mixed prescription pills.

A 21-year-old female of Olds, Alta. has been charged with 8 criminal code charges, including:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x4)
  • Possession of a controlled substance (x2)
  • Fail to comply with release order condition (x2)

A 48-year-old male of Olds, Alta. has been charged with 6 criminal code charges, including:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x4)
  • Possession of a controlled substance (x2)

The female was remanded into custody and will be appearing in Airdrie provincial court on March 4, 2020. The male was released from custody and will be appearing on March 19, 2020.
