72-year-old woman has died following two-vehicle collision

A 72-year-old woman from Metepenagiag First Nation, N.B., has died following a collision between two vehicles in Strathadam, N.B.

On August 23, 2020, at approximately 9:30 a.m., members of the Sunny Corner RCMP responded to a report of a head-on collision between two vehicles on Route 425. The collision is believed to have occurred when a car travelling eastbound crossed the centerline and collided with a car travelling westbound.

A 38-year old woman who was the sole occupant of the eastbound vehicle was transported to the Miramichi hospital . A 72-year-old woman and a 78-year-old woman, both from Metepenagiag First Nation who were the sole occupants of the westbound vehicle were also transported to the Miramichi hospital. On August 29, the 72-year-old woman from Metepenagiag First Nation died as a result of her injuries. The other two individuals remain in hospital.

An RCMP Reconstructionist attended the scene and is assisting with the investigation.

The investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing.
