71-year-old man dies following single-vehicle crash

A 71-year-old man from Saint-André, N.B., has died following a single-vehicle crash in the Kedgwick River area.

On October 25, 2020, at approximately 1 p.m., members of the Saint-Quentin RCMP and Kedgwick Fire Department responded to a report of a vehicle submerged in the Gounamitz River. A 71-year-old man, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was found deceased in the water near the vehicle.

The incident would have happened sometime between 10 p.m. on October 24 and 1 p.m. on October 25, 2020. It's believed the driver may have attempted to turn around on the road, but became stuck and was unable to negotiate a slope that led to the water.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the man's exact cause of death.
