40-year-old Rankin Inlet man arrested for impaired driving

At approximately 10:00 pm on Wednesday, May 17th 2020. Rankin Inlet RCMP while on a routine patrol, conducted a traffic stop after observing an ATV with four occupants which is double the lawful amount allowed.

The driver of the ATV exhibited and displayed signs of impairment and failed a roadside screening device. The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired operation of motor vehicle. A secondary breathalyser analysis was conducted where the driver was found to be over the legal limit.

A 40-year-old man from Rankin Inlet, NU is facing impaired driving related charges. The driver is scheduled to appear in court on August 10, 2020 in Rankin Inlet.

With the warmer weather upon us, Nunavut RCMP wish to remind residents of the dangers of impaired driving and to obey all Territorial and local by-law regulations as-associated to the Off Road Vehicle Act and the Criminal Code.
