30-year-old man charged in connection with investigation into stolen property

A 30-year-old man from Newburg, N.B., has been arrested by the Western Valley Region RCMP in connection with investigations into a number of recent crimes in the Jacksonville, Florenceville and Woodstock areas.

On October 21, 2020, members of the Western Valley Region RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence on Newburg Road, in Newburg, as part of an ongoing investigation into stolen property. A number of items were recovered including, ammunition, tools, batteries and a 10,000 pound winch.

On October 22, a 30-year-old man was arrested in Fredericton by the RCMP.

On October 23, Matthew Jacob Johnston appeared in Woodstock Provincial Court by way of a tele-remand and was charged with:

  • possession of property obtained by crime
  • possession of ammunition while being prohibited

Matthew Johnston was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court by videoconference on October 27, at 1:30 p.m. for a bail hearing.
