30 vehicles stopped and several violations issued during traffic enforcement operation

Recent traffic enforcement in Shippagan, N.B., resulted in 30 vehicles being stopped and multiple violations being issued for motor vehicle infractions.

On April 1, 2020, after receiving several complaints from the community, members of the Lameque detachment, Caraquet Detachment and the Northeast District Crime Reduction Unit along with the New Brunswick RCMP's Tactical Traffic Enforcement Unit (TTEU), conducted a traffic enforcement operation targeting unsafe vehicles.

In all, 30 vehicles were stopped, with 4 vehicles being towed for being unsafe for the road. In addition, several tickets were issued for different traffic violations under the Motor Vehicle Act. A person was issued an appearance notice for driving while suspended and will be appearing in court at a later date.

As part of the RCMP's ongoing commitment to public safety, police will continue traffic enforcement on roadways throughout New Brunswick, with the goals of improving road safety, educating motorists about the rules of the road, and to reduce serious injury and fatal collisions.
