Westlock RCMP on scene of collision on Highway 44

This morning at approximately 5:15 a.m., Westlock RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision on Highway 44 north of Township Road 585.

Preliminary investigation revealed a truck was travelling southbound on Highway 44 and a car was heading northbound crossed the centre line, and a head on collision occurred.

The 57-year-old male driver of the car from Alexander First Nations was pronounced deceased at the scene. The adult male driver of the truck was transported to hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries.

Westlock RCMP along with a RCMP Collision Analyst continue to investigate. Traffic is no longer being re-routed. No further updates are anticipated.
