On October 19 and 20, 2019, over 140 volunteers from 16 Newfoundland and Labrador Search and Rescue Association (NLSARA) Teams converged on Terra Nova Resort and Golf Community in Port Blandford for a training weekend.

Various training sessions were conducted by NLSARA over the weekend to help advance the search and rescue skills of the volunteers. The sessions included helicopter rescue re-certification, navigation skills, first aid, GPS usage, map and compass skills, evidence searching, fire lighting, and team building.

Members of Ground Search and Rescue regularly use these skills while serving their communities.

RCMP NL and the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary express their appreciation to all Search and Rescue volunteers who dedicate countless hours.
