Sheshatshiu RCMP removes two impaired drivers from the roads in one day

Yesterday, Sheshatshiu RCMP arrested a man and a woman for two separate incidents of impaired driving in the community of Sheshatshiu.

At approximately 4:15 a.m., Sheshatshiu RCMP received an anonymous report of a suspected impaired driver. Officers patrolled the community, located the described vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, a 25-year-old man from Sheshatshiu, was found to be impaired by alcohol. He was arrested, brought back to the detachment and provided breath samples that were nearly three times the legal limit.

At approximately 11:15 a.m., Sheshatshiu RCMP were notified of a suspected impaired driver that was reported to Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP and was believed to be heading towards Sheshatshiu. Officers made a patrol and located the described vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, a 33-year-old woman was found to be impaired by alcohol. She was arrested, brought back to the detachment and provided breath samples nearly twice the legal limit.

Police officers seized and impounded the vehicles for thirty days and issued driver's licence suspensions. Both individuals face charges of impaired driving and will attend court at a later date.
