La Ronge RCMP: Barricaded male

Yesterday at approximately 7:30 a.m., RCMP were notified of an adult male that was armed and barricaded in a residence on the Sucker River First Nation. An adult female was also present in the residence during the incident. Members from the La Ronge, Prince Albert and Stanley Mission RCMP Detachments, along with officers from the RCMP Crime Reduction Team and RCMP Containment Team, all attended the scene.

The Emergency Response Team was en-route to the scene when the male exited the home and was arrested without incident. The school and local daycare were notified and placed into a hold and secure mode while the police were dealing with the situation.

As a result of this incident, Jonah Ratt is charged with the following offences:

  • Assault - S.266 CC
  • Uttering Threats - S.264.1(1)(A) CC
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose - S. 88(2) CC
  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm - S.91(3) CC
  • The lone female occupant of the residence was taken to hospital in La Ronge for treatment.
