An investigation by the Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team led to the arrest of a man and a woman and the seizure of stolen property, drugs and weapons.
On September 4, 2019, police were conducting an investigation into a stolen vehicle in the Eastview area of Red Deer. When the vehicle stopped at a residence, police arrested the occupants of the vehicle.
Upon searching the vehicle, police seized the following items:
- One rifle
- One shotgun
- Drugs, including fentanyl and methamphetamine
- Identification cards, credit cards, and other suspected stolen property
As a result of this investigation, two individuals were arrested and 53 Criminal Code charges were laid, including:
A 42-year-old male of Red Deer was charged 32 Criminal Code offences, including:
- Possession of stolen property over $5000
- Possession of stolen property under $5000 (x5)
- Failure to comply with recognizance (x6)
- Possession of identity documents (x2)
- Resist police/peace officer
- 17 firearms related offences
In addition, the male was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, and two charges under the Highway Traffic Act.
The male remains in custody after a judicial hearing and will appear in Red Deer provincial court on September 9, 2019.
A 20-year-old female also of Red Deer, was charged with 21 Criminal Code charges including:
- Possession of stolen property over $5000
- Possession of stolen property under $5000
- Resist police/peace officer
- Failure to comply with recognizance (x2)
- Failure to comply with probation order
- 15 firearms related offences
The female remains in custody after a judicial hearing and will appear in Red Deer provincial court on September 9, 2019.
