RCMP Western Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit search warrant results in 169 charges

As a result of investigations focussed on property crime in the Fairview area, the Western Alberta District (WAD) Rural Crime Reduction Unit (RCRU), RCMP Emergency Response Team and Fairview RCMP Detachment members executed a search warrant on a rural address near Fairview on Dec. 6, 2019.

This search resulted in the discovery of what is believed to be a large scale forgery and counterfeiting operation. The following items were seized: personal government identification, cheque books, passports, documents, as well as forged identification and cheques.

A 30-year-old female of Clairemont, Alta., a 39-year-old female of Grande Prairie, Alta., a 35-year-old male of Spirit River, Alta., and a 42-year-old male of Calgary are jointly charged with the following:

  • Possession of stolen property (x2)

The 30-year-old female of Clairemont, Alta. was also charged with the following:

  • Possession of a forged document (x46)
  • Fail to comply with conditions (x95)
  • Possess government identification (x8)
  • Possession of counterfeit currency (x6)
  • Possession of stolen property (x6)

All of the accused were released with conditions after judicial hearings except the 30-year-old female, who was remanded into custody.

The accused are scheduled to appear in Fairview provincial court on Jan. 8, 2020.
