On January 26, 2019 the Cambridge Bay RCMP, the RCMP V Division Major Crime Unit, and with the assistance of the G Division Major Crime Unit, began an investigation into the death of a 46-year-old Cambridge Bay man who was found unresponsive in a local residence.
44-year-old Raymond KOMAK has been charged with one count of Murder contrary to section 235 of the Criminal Code and remains in custody. KOMAK will be scheduled to appear in court in early February 2019 in Iqaluit, at the Nunavut Court of Justice.
The investigation is on-going in partnership with the Chief Coroner's Office.
The Kugluktuk RCMP along with the RCMP V Division Major Crime Unit are working with the Chief Coroner's Office investigating the sudden death of a 31-year-old female who was found unresponsive in a local residence on January 29, 2019. The Chief Coroner has requested an autopsy as the cause of death is unknown.
On January 18, 2019 the Nunavut Major Crime Unit laid charges in the April 2017 death of 46-year-old Margaret OGINA. A Kugluktuk resident has been charged with one count of Murder contrary to section 235 of the Criminal Code and will appear in the Nunavut Court of Justice in Iqaluit on February 5, 2019. A publication band is in place related to this matter.
