December 12, 2019
Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia

News release

Halifax District RCMP have arrested a 14-year-old male youth for making threats online against a school in Lower Sackville.

Just before 6 p.m. on December 7, RCMP learned of the threats. Halifax District RCMP, with assistance from the RCMP-HRP Integrated Criminal Investigative Division of the General Investigation Section, arrested a 14-year-old male youth for Uttering Threats.

The youth was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Halifax Youth Court on January 9, 2020.

No one was hurt and the RCMP is continuing its investigation.

The RCMP wishes to remind the public that police investigate all calls involving threats to a school, even if the information is received through a third party or via social media. In every case, police attempt to get to the source of the information.

There can be serious criminal consequences to making a threat to a school. Additionally, investigating complaints where a false threat was made ties up police and school resources, when they could be better used in other areas.
